Tracking Proteins with GFP


Movement of proteins into different parts of the cell can be measured by attaching the proteins to green fluorescent protein (GFP; here seen in the nucleus, the compartment that stores DNA) or its blue counterpart (BFP; here seen in the mitochondria, the compartments in the cell that generate energy).
